Justice for Everyone, of Every Species

The Animal Liberation Flag is a symbol for Antispeciesist Justice Movements.

The Animal Liberation Flag displays the ideals of Equality, Bodily Autonomy, Justice, and Solidarity, across the socially constructed borders of Species.

Non-human People all over the world are engaged in liberatory struggles. Human allies and accomplices, and, more broadly, vegans, are striving to support non-humans and bring about justice. The Animal Liberation Flag represents the values underlying these movements.

Flag Specifications:

The Animal Liberation Flag is identical obverse and reverse, and was originally designed as a rectangle at an aspect ratio of 3 to 5. However the aspect ratio of the flag is variable.

The flag is divided evenly into five horizontal stripes, and the color pattern top to bottom is White, Black, Green, Black, White.

The Green is of moderate lightness, so the lightness pattern down the flag is Light, Dark, Medium, Dark, Light.

The original Green color is Hexadecimal 009600.

The Animal Liberation Flag has two Designer's Original Readings: one Historical, one Aspirational.

Historical Reading:

In the Designer's Historical Reading, the White represents Oppression and Social Hierarchy: Speciesism and Carnism, as well as Racism, Ableism, Transphobia, Capitalism, Colonialism, Homophobia, Sexism, and all of the many Forms and Ideologies of Oppression.

As all forms of Oppression are Mutually Constitutive, forming one Social Order of Oppression, they are in one section of the flag.

The Black Represents Solidarity, and Liberatory Struggle.

And the Green represents Animals.

So together the Black, White, and Green represent Solidarity in the face of Oppression, and Liberatory Struggle in the face of Injustice, as People of all Species strive for Justice for all Animals.

relevant definitions of AnimalNoun 1. anyone in the clade Animalia 2. a social category marking those to whom it is applied as inferior or sub-human, applied broadly to non-humans and selectively to marginalized humans

Aspirational Reading:

In the Designer's Aspirational Reading, the Black and White Sections of the Flag take on different meanings.

The Black represents Justice and Equality, which are necessary for the Peace and Flourishing that are represented by the White.

The Green still represents Animals.

So in the Aspirational Reading, the Black, White, and Green represent everyone of every species living as equals.
